Touchdown Club of Houston names All-Greater Houston high school preseason team

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- ABC13 sports producer Joe Gleason went to the annual Touchdown Club of Houston dinner, where the preseason All-Greater Houston players were recognized to get us ready for the season.

"It means a lot, you know you work as a kid for moments like this, and it's good to see how it paid off," Manvel High School safety Karnell James said.

"I'm really blessed to be here," Crawford High School wideout Alvin Mosley said. "This is a great moment for me right now. You know, me and the top players, top dog in the city."

Kasen Jammer is a Duke commit from Angleton. He shares what football means to him.

"I'll just say it's always been the game that I love, just going out there and doing what I love to do at the end of the day," he said.

Atascocita cornerback and Oklahoma commit Trenton Blaylock is the third in his family to receive the TD Club preseason honor.

"I watched my brothers, two of my brothers come here, and it is an honor to be here," he said.

The honorees were dressed for the occasion as well, far different than they look on Friday nights.

"You've got to go tuxedo," Cypress Falls edge and Texas A&M commit Kaden McCarty said. "It's just that you feel like it's the best fit."

Michigan commit and Shadow Creek edge looked red-carpet ready.

"I look in the mirror and said, "Yeah, I like it,'" he said.

Oklahoma State commit and Hightower quarterback said he was helped with his outfit by his girlfriend and his mom.

"I'm not going to lie, it was a little bit of me, a little bit of my girl, my mom," he said.

Ridge Point linebacker and North Carolina commit Aaron Williams shared this honor with his family.

Atascocita defensive lineman and University of Texas commit Jason Johnson wore a necklace to honor his late grandmother, who meant so much to him on his journey.

"My grandma just means the world to me, you know, she's just been like literally my second mom," he said. "I kind of grew up with her all my life, so to see her pass away, it was really heartbreaking for me."

The season starts on Thursday.

"I look forward to having a great season," Tomball running back Ian Thomas said.

"I love suiting up, putting that Yates on my chest and going out there playing to the best of my ability," Yates senior Jordan Simmons said.

It'll be the last ride, senior season for most of these players, and they want to leave it all out on the field.

"I just like running through people's faces," CE King running back and Cal commit AJ Sanders said. "It's either them or me. I'll put me over them every time."

Winning a state championship is every team's goal; College Park wide receiver and Clemson commit Julian Cromartie has also set a few personal goals this season.

"Two thousand yards and 20 touchdowns, so that's my goal for this year," he said.

For Randle, senior running back, his commitment to the University of Texas is behind him so he can focus on leading the Lions to a third straight state championship appearance. He's one year removed from being named a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist and has some of the biggest Texas high school football records in sight.

"I want to get the all-time rushing record, the TD record too, and just have a generational season this year," he said.

The preseason team's quarterbacks include Cypress Ranch High School quarterback Braden Baker, College Park High School quarterback Camden Hughes, and Hightower High School quarterback Carson White.

The team's running backs include Tomball HS's Ian Thomas, C.E. King HS's Antwon Sanders, and Randle HS's Landen Williams-Callis.

The team's wideout room includes College Park HS's Julian Cromartie, Summer Creek HS's Benny Easter Jr., Crawford HS's Alvin Mosley III, and Shadow Creek HS's Aden Starling.

The team's offensive linemen include Kingwood HS's Kennedy Brown and Katy HS's Isaac Coughran. The team's tight end is La Porte HS's Ryker Reynolds.

The team's defensive linemen comprise Langham Creek HS's Ezekiel Ayangbile, Pearland HS's DeMarco Jenkins, Atascocita HS's Jason Johnson, and Cypress Ranch HS's Amari Vickerson.

The team's edge rushers include Cypress Falls HS's Kaden McCarthy and Shadow Creek HS's Xavier Muhammad.

The team's linebackers include Katy HS's Cade Haug, Langham Creek HS's Jhadyn "J5" Nelson, Westfield HS's Davon Smith, and Ridge Point HS's Aaron Williams.

As far as the team's defensive backs, the list includes Trenton Blaylock of Atascocita HS, Karnell James of Manvel HS, Kameron Roberson of Cypress Springs HS, Brandon Sherrard of Shadow Creek HS, and Prince Washington of Lamar HS.

Concerning special teams, including kickers and punters, it comprises College Park HS's Beckett Coke and Grand Oaks HS's Kaden Rosado.
