HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A SWAT standoff at a northside Houston apartment ended after officers broke a window and flew a drone into the building, authorities said.

The Houston Police Department said a woman called 911 on Monday afternoon to report that her boyfriend was holding her against her will in an apartment on Crosstimbers near Fulton.

Authorities said they arrived at about 2:30 p.m. and encountered the boyfriend's mother, who told officers no one else was inside.

Despite the mother's claim, officers said they learned the boyfriend was inside the apartment, holding his girlfriend against her will.

Police said they also learned the man had an open felony warrant for aggravated assault against the same woman from the previous week and had threatened her with a gun.

HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said officers ordered the suspect to come outside, but when he refused, they called SWAT.

SWAT also ordered the suspect to come out, but when he refused again, they broke a window and flew a drone into the apartment.

That's when the suspect came outside, police said. Officers said they tased the man after he became combative.

Authorities said the suspect was hospitalized for taser-related injuries, but is expected to be OK. No one else was injured during the incident, police said.
