Suspect barricaded inside Kingwood apartment after allegedly strangling his partner, Houston Police Department says

A SWAT scene is actively underway after a man barricaded himself on Saturday morning in a Kingwood apartment, accused of strangling his partner, Houston police say.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the Kingwood Lakes Apartments at 3700 Kingwood Drive for a call that came in at about 2:50 a.m. Investigators said a woman told officers that her male partner had strangled her.

Authorities said the man then barricaded himself alone inside an apartment unit. Police said that SWAT units responded to the scene at about 7 a.m. and that the situation remains ongoing.

It is unknown if the suspect is armed, investigators said. Authorities did not release the condition of the woman involved.
