HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Investigators confirmed a man has been arrested following a SWAT standoff in the Kingwood area near a elementary school on Thursday morning.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the 38-year-old suspect was wanted by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force for a felony warrant involving sex crimes.
SkyEye13 video showed heavy police presense surrounding a home just after 9 a.m. that was adjacent to Bear Branch Elementary School.
According to officials, the HCSO SWAT Team helped the task force in serving the warrant, but the man refused to come out of the home.
At one point, Bear Branch Elementary sent out a notice to parents that the school was placed on a "Secure the Perimeter" status. The principal Sloan Simmons said in the release that it means access to the campus is restricted.
Officials did not say how long it took for the man to come out of the home, but he eventually was placed into custody. No injuries were reported.
HCSO said the U.S. Marshals Service is now over the investigation with the task force and more details will be released regarding the arrest at a later time.
