HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was hit and killed by a speeding SUV while crossing Pierce Street early Monday morning, the Houston Police Department reported.
Authorities said the woman was leaving a nearby club when she was struck and dragged for several feet. Investigators said the SUV then crashed into five other parked vehicles.
Officers working extra jobs at the club responded to the scene and detained the SUV driver. Police said the driver could possibly face a charge of intoxicated manslaughter.
Investigators said the driver, identified only as an adult male, had come from another club or bar, where they believe he had drinks before getting behind the wheel.
HPD said a passenger was also involved, but did not share any further details.
No other injuries were reported.
