HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An 18-wheeler crashed into two utility poles Tuesday morning, impacting service to some CenterPoint customers, the energy provider said.

Crews were seen responding to downed power lines at 501 N. Shepherd Drive, not far from the Katy Freeway, at about 10:30 a.m.

SkyEye flew over the crash, where a utility pole had fallen on a big rig. The pole, along with the transformer, fell between the cab and the trailer. The incident shut down N. Shepherd in both directions.

A second power pole also appeared to be damaged ahead of the truck.

As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, CenterPoint CenterPoint said about 1,700 customers were impacted, adding that 1,694 of those had their power restored. Repairs are estimated to be completed by Tuesday afternoon, according to CenterPoint.

"CenterPoint Energy crews responded immediately and are onsite collaborating with first responders and law enforcement to secure the area and restore service to the majority of impacted customers," the company said.

Authorities have not released additional information about the truck driver or whether anyone was injured.
