24-year-old man found shot to death in truck crashed into northeast Houston ditch, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department is investigating a shooting after a man was found dead in a crashed truck Monday morning.

According to HPD, a 911 caller reported shots were fired at about 3:45 a.m. at 8713 Leycrest Road.

When officers arrived, they found a truck that had crashed into a ditch.

Officers went to check and found a man inside the truck with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, who was 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity is pending verification by the medical examiner's office.

HPD said neighbors reported hearing gunshots and the truck engine accelerating.

Homicide investigators are working on the case but said there are no known witnesses or a suspect description at this time.
