Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle in North Freeway HOV lane, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle on the North Freeway on Monday morning, the Houston Police Department said.

Police said it happened in the HOV lane near West Road just after 10 a.m.

According to preliminary information provided by HPD, the pedestrian was running across the North Freeway and got hit by a non-METRO passenger vehicle after entering the HOV lane.

HPD said that the pedestrian was taken to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the incident.

An investigation is still ongoing, and the identity of the victim hasn't been released.
