High-speed crash along East Freeway sends 3 people to hospital, HPD says
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Three people are expected to survive after being hurt in a high-speed crash along the East Freeway, according to the Houston Police Department.
The crash happened on Saturday afternoon on I-10 eastbound's frontage road near Federal Road, HPD said.
Houston TranStar cameras showed the wreck temporarily forced the closure of the frontage road and snarled traffic on the freeway. As of publication, the road has cleared.
First responders rushed three people to the hospital, and while they did not describe the extent of their injuries, they did say all victims are expected to survive.
Investigators said that the crash occurred when a Chevy Traverse pulled out of Centerwood Drive onto the feeder road and was struck by a black car going east.
HPD said speed was a factor in the crash, but did not say which car was at fault.
HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division responded to the crash, according to officers.
