No arrest made yet after 26-year-old woman shot to death at SE Houston apartment complex, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department said no arrest has been made in a deadly shooting over the weekend that killed one woman in southeast Houston.

HPD said officers responded to a shooting call around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday at an apartment complex on the 7400 block of Calhoun Street, according to police.

When law enforcement arrived, they said officers learned the victim, a 26-year-old woman, had already been taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

A couple of hours later, police said she was pronounced dead.

HPD said multiple people were hanging out at the apartment complex parking lot when a physical altercation broke out and escalated into a shooting. They said the suspect fired a gun at the victim.

ABC13 spoke briefly with the victim's father on the phone, who said his daughter was trying to help de-escalate the situation before the shooting occurred.

Officers spoke with several witnesses at the scene who provided suspect information, but at this point, HPD said no one is in custody.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
