Multiple eastbound mainlanes closed on I-10 after Houston Avenue Bridge hit again, TxDOT says
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Multiple eastbound mainlanes are shut down on I-10 after the Houston Avenue Bridge was hit again, this time by a truck carrying a large spool, TxDOT says.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office also reported the incident, saying an 18-wheeler hit the bridge because of its high load.
Houston TranStar reports that two eastbound right lanes of I-10 are closed due to the incident. TxDOT said its crews responded to the scene and are working to reopen the lanes.
TxDOT shared images of the incident, including the 18-wheeler's large spool hitting the bridge.
The Houston Avenue Bridge has become infamous for being struck by high loads, with the bridge having been hit well over 70 times since 2025.
The bridge clearance is 14 feet 3 inches.
