HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities say a motorcyclist was hit by a Harris County deputy Monday night during a chaotic 45-minute chase for a carjacking suspect in Houston.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a woman called 911 saying she had been carjacked by a man with a gun. That carjacking reportedly happened at about 9 p.m. Monday.
The sheriff's office said deputies were able to track down the suspect and the stolen car near Highway 249 and Antoine. While trying to catch the suspect, investigators say a K-9 deputy ran a red light on Aldine Bender and Hardy and hit a motorcyclist.
Investigators said the deputy had their lights and sirens on. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
Deputies say another patrol vehicle then crashed into the suspect.
"The suspect ended up crashing out near Airline and Sunnyside, where he fled on foot into a nearby residence. He was eventually apprehended by our patrol division," Sgt. B. Bondurant with the sheriff's office said.
Authorities said the suspect faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated robbery and evading.
"Pursuit spanned over a good part of Harris County and went into the city as well. Very large pursuit, very dangerous situation, but our deputies did a decent job maintaining order as best they could," Bondurant added.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
