2 jugging suspects accused of following victim, taking thousands of dollars, leading chase: PD

ROSENBERG, Texas (KTRK) -- Two suspects accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a person were arrested following a chase in Fort Bend County, according to authorities.

On Thursday, the Rosenberg Police Department shared that a chase happened on Wednesday after an incident that took place at American Heritage Academy at 5701 Avenue I.

Police said the suspects, 28-year-old Larry Nicholson and 32-year-old Courtland Martin, followed the 58-year-old victim to a Chase Bank and a Bank of America, and lastly a daycare.

Authorities said that about $10,000 in cash had been taken from the victim. Police said following that, officers found the suspects' vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 59. When officers tried stopping the vehicle, the suspects took off, sparking a chase.

Police said that a short time later, officers were notified that the suspects had crashed near U.S. Highway 59 and Sweetwater Blvd. Witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing on foot behind Sugar Land Baptist Church, police said.

After a thorough search, police said the suspects were found hiding in a nearby neighborhood.

Rosenberg PD added that several thousand dollars in cash were also found.

Nicholson was charged with theft of property of $2,500 or more but less than $30,000. He also reportedly had three outstanding warrants out of Louisiana.

Martin faced the same charge, along with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle.

An investigation into this case remains ongoing, PD said.
