HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 27-year-old man was federally convicted for his alleged role in the death of a 61-year-old grandfather who was shot while buying Happy Meals for his grandkids in northwest Harris County, according to a release by the FBI Houston.
Authorities said Tyler Jordan was convicted by a jury for possessing a machine gun involved in the 2025 killing of Jorge Arbaiza in Katy.

According to the FBI, the trial went on for three days, and a jury in Houston deliberated for about three hours before convicting Jordan.
In a release, the FBI shared that the jury heard evidence that on the day of the shooting, Jordan and others went into the McDonald's on N. Fry Road, near W. Little York Road, intending to start a fight with another group of people. During that fight, multiple bullets were fired into the crowded lobby, one of which hit and killed Arbaiza.
As the investigation went on, a video on Jordan's phone showed him holding the weapon just five hours before the incident.
With the verdict, Jordan faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine. He is set to be sentenced on June 25.
Two other suspects, Antoine Ridge and Paul Whitley, were arrested and charged in March. Ridge is charged with murder, and Whitley is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Ridge remains in jail, while records show that Whitley was released on bond in November 2025 and has had three bond violation reports so far.
