HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was killed following a fight over the weekend in north Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on social media that the suspect was identified as Javon Brown after a shooting near an apartment complex on 12655 Kuykendahl Rd. near West Rankin Road.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found two women with gunshot wounds. They both were taken to the hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead, HCSO said. Officials said the woman was identified as 22-year-old Julianna Cardenas.

Detectives said that the women, along with a man, were involved in an altercation at a separate location before driving to the complex in order to get help. The man was not injured but was still taken to the hospital for a checkup, according to investigators.

Officials said initially Cardenas had agreed to meet with another woman with whom she allegedly had an ongoing dispute over another man. An argument ensued before shots were fired, officials said.

HCSO said Brown was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. He has since been charged with murder.
