HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 19-year-old was officially charged with murder on Saturday after allegedly shooting at a driver in The Heights after an argument on Thursday, according to the Houston Police Department.
Investigators say Jhoan Gomez was walking on Cottage Street when he was involved in an altercation with the driver of a Honda Civic. That driver was identified as 30-year-old Dreliene Washington.
HPD said that they arrived at the scene and found the Civic crashed into a curb, with Washington inside of it with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters.
Court records said there was an apparent altercation between Washington and Gomez, who was walking down the street. Officials said at one point, it is believed Gomez pulled out a weapon.
Police said there is footage that shows what led up to the shooting. Records said the "two did not personally know each other."
Investigators previously reported that Gomez allegedly fled on foot and was later arrested near the 400 block of Walton Street. He has since been charged, officials said.
He is currently being held in custody at the Harris County Jail without bail.
