7-year-old girl shot in the leg at northwest Harris County apartments, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 7-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital overnight after being shot in the leg, according to investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office and Harris County Constable Precinct One.

Deputies said they responded to the Inwood Grove Apartments on Alabonson Road in northwest Harris County around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"Right now, she is at the hospital undergoing medical treatment," Sgt. Juan Garcia with HCSO said. "Right now, she is currently stable."

Investigators said they are looking into whether the incident was a self-inflicted gunshot or if anyone else was involved.

It's also unclear whether anyone else was around at the time of the shooting.

"The investigation will continue. If there are any possible charges, the (district attorney) will be notified," Sgt. Garcia said.
