ROSENBERG, Texas (KTRK) -- Cleanup from a train derailment that caused traffic impacts in Richmond and Rosenberg on Wednesday could take days, according to Fort Bend County officials.

According to officials, no injuries were reported in the derailment that happened along Highway 90 near OakBend Hospital.

In a Facebook post, the Richmond Police Department said the train derailed in Rosenberg, causing several cars to leave the tracks. Authorities said the train contained 137 rail cars, including the 23 that derailed. Of those train cars, three were leaking: one was leaking corn syrup, and the other two were leaking ethanol, but authorities said there were no threats at the time.

Authorities said they are assessing the derailed vehicles; however, they added that all railroad crossings in Richmond have reopened, except for the one on Collins Road. Officials added that drivers should take precautions, as operations are expected to extend beyond Wednesday.

"Richmond officers are directing traffic at the emergency underpass at 2nd Street in both directions. Please plan accordingly," Richmond PD said.

As crews work to clear the area, drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
