Driver killed in fiery, single-vehicle crash on SH 99 in northwest Harris County, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A fiery crash along State Highway 99 left a driver dead on Monday night, according to Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators.

Houston TranStar reported the incident at around 9:18 p.m. on SH 99 Grand Parkway at Longenbaugh Road.

The driver was reportedly going southbound on the Grand Parkway at a high rate of speed before failing to stay in a single lane and going off the roadway and into the median.

Deputies said the vehicle kept traveling in the median to the bridge overpass for Longenbaugh Road and crashed into the roadway below, bursting into flames.

The victim, who has not been identified, became trapped and was unable to escape the wreck.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
