HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two deputies are recovering after being hurt when they tried to detain a suspect in southwest Houston on Tuesday morning, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 5.
The incident happened just before 7 a.m. after a call that someone was breaking into a car in the 5400 block of Redstart Street.
Officials said the deputies responded and found the suspect just near West Bellfort Avenue near Mullins.
As they began to arrest the man, a fight broke out among all three, officials said.
One of the deputies was hit in the head and fell to the concrete. The other injured their wrist while trying to place the suspect in handcuffs.
Pct. 5 later said they're both expected to be OK, and that the deputy who was hit in the head has been released from the hospital.
The suspect got away; however, Precinct 5 says he still has the handcuffs on his right wrist.
Officials did not provide a physical description of the suspect, and it remains unclear whether anyone else was injured.
