Former Cypress Christian School employee accused in sex crimes against underage boy in Georgia
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- ABC13 has learned that a one-time employee of Cypress Christian School is facing multiple charges in Georgia over allegations of sexual misconduct with an underage boy.
Jared Barber has been charged in Bryan County, Georgia, with grooming a minor, criminal attempt to commit grooming a minor, and electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor.
Court records allege the allegations against Barber began in July 2024 and continued until April 29, 2026.
The indictment against Barber came down on Aug. 18, according to those records.
Cypress Christian School sent ABC13 a statement saying they first received "information concerning Mr. Barber" on April 29 of this year.
"The school reported the matter to Texas authorities, terminated his contract that day, and removed him from all contact with students (on April 29)," read part of that statement.
The school declined to elaborate on what roles Barber had while employed at Cypress Christian School.
Officials in Bryan County told ABC13 that Barber has been served but said they don't have records of his appearing in their jail or court as of Friday afternoon.
