HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The suspect accused of shooting two Precinct 4 deputy constables on Friday has been identified, officials said.
Edgar Villegas is under police guard at a local hospital as he receives treatment for injuries sustained while being apprehended by a police K9, authorities said.
According to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Villegas is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer after shooting Deputy Dante Zepda and Deputy George Esparza as they responded to a shots-fired report in Humble.
Once Villegas is released from the hospital, he will be transported and booked into the Harris County Jail, officials said.
