HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a woman's body was found along the banks of the Brays Bayou near MacGregor Park, according to the Houston Police Department.
Investigators said they were called to Martin Luther King Boulevard and Wheeler Avenue on Wednesday after 10:30 a.m. after reports of the body were made.
HPD said that its homicide detectives are handling the case, a standard procedure in such incidents.
Detectives later said they were staged at MacGregor Park as the investigation unfolded.
During Friday's heavy rains, HPD reported that its dive team responded to Brays Bayou after witnesses reported a woman being swept away in its current, but was unable to find anyone.
Officials said they could not confirm whether this incident was related to Friday's dive team search.
