2 people arrested, charged for murder of man found dead in motel room on East Freeway, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Two people have been arrested and charged with murder after a body was found in a motel room in east Harris County, according to officials.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies were serving a parole warrant on a suspect at a motel located in the 15800 block of the East Freeway on Wednesday when they noticed a broken window in the room next door. When deputies went to investigate, they found a man shot multiple times inside the bathroom, HCSO said.

In a social media post on Saturday, HCSO said the victim was identified as 33-year-old Jorge Gonzalez. EMS responded to the motel, pronouncing Gonzalez dead on the scene, according to authorities.

Officials confirmed that there was no connection between the original detained suspect and the victim who was shot.

Officials also added that 41-year-old Joseph Plattenburg and 27-year-old Jordyn Wells were taken into custody and charged with murder in the shooting death of Gonzalez.

According to HCSO, the suspects allegedly shot Gonzalez, claiming that the victim owed them money.

Both Plattenburg and Wells were booked in the Harris County Jail, according to authorities.
