Man found dead inside motel room near East Freeway, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway in east Harris County after deputies serving an arrest warrant found a man dead inside a motel room on Wednesday afternoon, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff Ed Gonzales said that the scene unfolded in the 15800 block of the East Freeway. HCSO said deputies from Precinct 3 initially served a parole warrant for a suspect from Louisiana and then tracked the suspect.

That suspect was quickly found and detained at the motel, HCSO says.

Shortly after, HCSO said deputies noticed a broken window in the room next door and went to investigate, leading them to find another man shot multiple times inside the bathroom.

HCSO said the victim, who was said to be staying at the motel, may have been in a fight with three other people the night before. Officials said several shell casings were found in the parking lot of the motel, which officials said is a "high-traffic drug area", but are not sure if that is the case.

It is confirmed that there is no connection between the orginal detained suspect and the victim who was shot, HCSO said.

Sgt. Sydney Miller with HCSO's homicide unit said the victim's family was on scene, answering questions on his last known whereabouts.
