Teen charged with murder in shooting death of 15-year-old at north Harris County home, sheriff says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A teenager was charged with murder of a 15-year-old at a north Harris County home, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said that 18-year-old Tejonte Givan was charged with murder in the shooting death of 15-year-old Donald Slaughter. Givan was booked into the Harris County Jail.

According to investigators, deputies were called to the scene at a home on Remington Ridge Drive around 10 p.m. on Monday.

Investigators said when deputies arrived, they found Slaughter and Givan with gunshot wounds. Both were hospitalized, where Slaughter was pronounced dead because of his injuries, the sheriff said.

According to HCSO, investigators learned that Givan allegedly shot Slaughter because he reportedly owed him money. Additionally, Slaughter carried a firearm and managed to fire at Givan, deputies said.
