Houstonians gave more to Trump than any other metro area

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- In all of 2016, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have been to Texas a grand total of 9 times.

Trump's been to Houston 3 times, Clinton once.

Not often, when you compare the time spent in Florida: 43 days.

Their ads aren't really running here and despite a brief flurry of reports that Clinton was closing in on a historic win here, the presidential race in Texas isn't likely to turn Texas blue.

Our votes count just as much as any other American's but our money is what these candidates are really after.

Houston is America's most generous metro area for Donald Trump - he's hauled in nearly $2.3 million dollars from Houstonians.

Hillary Clinton raised $2.2 million here, but she's out-raised Trump by so much, we rank as her 28th most generous metro.

Big donors - no surprise - come from the Memorial Villages and River Oaks.

$18 million was donated from three zip codes to all political candidates this year.

The top donors here: Robert Mcnair the owner of the Texans and his wife, who've given nearly $8 million dollars. Hushand & Shahla Ansary gave 4 million. Lawyers Steve and Amber Mostyn donated nearly $2.5 million to Democrats.

Richard and Nancy Kinder chipped in $2 million.

Hillary Clinton is the top Democratic recipient from Houston Democrats.

Donald Trump is not the top Republican recipient from Houston - that is one-time Houstonian Jeb Bush.
