Plane returns to IAH after takeoff due to mechanical issue

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A plane returned safely to Bush Intercontinental Airport upon suffering a mechanical issue after takeoff.

An airport spokesperson told Eyewitness News Flight 4438 with 60 passengers and crew on board returned to the airport immediately after taking off at about 2pm, because something struck the aircraft. Now it appears the plane didn't strike anything, but instead suffered some type of mechanical issue.

The plane landed safely, and passengers were moved to another aircraft.
