More than 1,400 people visited the St. Francis Wolf Sanctuary in Montgomery Saturday and had the opportunity to pet and have their photo taken with the sanctuary's ambassador, Romulus.

Romulus is considered a "low content" wolfdog, which refers to the amount of wolf he has in him, according to officials with the sanctuary

The sanctuary invited the public out to view the wolves and wolfdogs during its annual open house and silent auction fundraiser.

Volunteer Leslie Guillermo, of Montgomery, works with animals on a daily basis, as a professional pet concierge with pet shuttle service. She started volunteering at the wolf sanctuary in January.
