Police are searching for the men who shot a 16-year-old-girl with a pellet gun.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are looking for two men accused of shooting a 16-year-old girl in the arm with a pellet gun near Westbury High School.

Officers say the girl was walking to school by herself near Bob White Drive when a car with two men pulled up.

Police say it all started when men asked the girl how old she was. They went on to press her for information and then the conversation turned sexual.

"Some boys were trying to talk to her," said a classmate.

The girl started walking faster on Ludington Drive to get away from the men and get to Westbury High School.

It was then that she felt something on her arm. Police say the men shot her with a pellet gun.

"She was rejecting them, so I guess they got jealous and shot her in the arm," added the classmate.

A school nurse at Westbury helped the girl and pulled the pellet out of her arm.

Neighbors heard the commotion from a police helicopter searching for the shooters from above.

Yvette Goodman, who lives in the neighborhood, said, "They're sick and don't have anything else to do. That's just plain and simple."

Usually, there are a lot of children around because a majority of them do not take the bus to school.

Neighbor Ed Melcher said, "I guess if someone's looking for no good they can find it anywhere. I guess they know that kids do walk on this street."

The girl is reported to be okay and she even returned to class after she was checked out, according to the school principal.

Police are working on getting a description of the men and car that was used.
