Victim shot during overnight carjacking in north Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Dramatic moments played out overnight a north Houston apartment complex overnight. Police officers told Eyewitness News a carjacker shot a man in the chest.

It happened around 12:30am at the Casa Real apartments on West Little York Road. Detectives say a friend of the victim who had been shot reached for his shotgun after seeing his buddy on the ground. They claim the friend starting firing, striking the suspect's Toyota Corolla, but missing the carjacker.

The crook got away in that green Toyota Corolla. Officers remain on the lookout for the vehicle, which should have bullet holes in it. Anyone with information should call the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
