Mattress Mack's birthday promotion: Astros win, customers win

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Mattress Mack's latest promotion will cost him big bucks after the Houston Astros won their 63rd game of the season on Sunday. Gallery Furniture is paying back about $4 million to customers.

Here is the promotion that was posted back in April on the Gallery Furniture website:

"Get in the game with our Baseball Promo #1 - limited to the first 500 customers who purchase $6,300.00 or more from Gallery Furniture and have it delivered within one week. If the Houston Astros baseball team wins 63 or more games in the regular season, 100% of the furniture purchase price will be refunded to ALL 500 participating customers!"

Eyewitness News reached out to Mattress Mack Sunday evening and he said, "The customers won!"

The Houston Astros scored two runs in the ninth without a hit, including Dexter Fowler's bases-loaded walk for the tie-breaking run, and beat the Oakland Athletics 4-3 on Sunday.

Owner Jim McIngvale says he picked the number because he just turned 63.
