Kids return from school to find mom dead inside home
Police say the two children, middle-school aged, found her dead inside a bedroom and ran to a neighbor for help

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of an Alief-area woman whose body was discovered by her two young children.



Police say the two children, middle school aged, found her dead inside a bedroom in their home in the 12000 block of Pine Knoll Drive when they returned from school Friday. According to a neighbor, the kids ran to a next-door neighbor's home and banged on the door for help. The neighbor called 911.



Police said they are looking for a vehicle in connection with the killing, and found it blocks away from the crime scene, but still no suspect.



The young children were brought back to the scene Friday evening. They are now being questioned by police.



Meanwhile, family members are at the scene, removing bags of clothing and other items for the kids. Neighbors were stunned and visibly upset.



"I came from work and all I see all these cops around here and the bad news that my neighbor, she's been killed," said a woman who only identified herself as Zoila.



Police have not released the name of the female victim. She is in her early 30's.
