HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There was a second scare for residents at a northwest Houston apartment complex. A fire that went three alarms flared up again this afternoon.
Workers ran door to door screaming for people to get out of their apartments.
The first fire broke out just before 2am Monday at the "The Falls on Antoine.
They recalled hearing people yelling "help" and trying desperately to wake up their neighbors and get them to safety.
"I hear somebody yelling Help!" said Xavier Holland who lives at the complex. "I stepped outside and seen nothing but fire on that side ... I just ran downstairs."
At that point, first responders reported one injury. A firefighter was taken to the nearest hospital for minor injuries.
Firefighters say they were able to get the three-alarm fire under control about an hour and 15 minutes after it started.
At least 40 units were destroyed, 16 of those suffered direct fire damage.
The Red Cross is assisting those displaced residents.
