PINEHURST, TX (KTRK) -- One family is heartbroken after they say their RV was stolen. They're more upset about what was inside.
Mary Whitt will never forget the joy on her six-year-old granddaughter's face when she unwrapped several Christmas presents donated by a local charity.
"She had Frozen. She had Monster High," Whitt said.
All of those presents and everything else in Whitt's RV are now gone. Whitt was living in the RV temporarily. It was parked near her workplace, a pop-up fireworks store, on Hwy 249 near a Shell station. Whitt says she got sick with pneumonia and was in the hospital. When she returned Monday, her RV was gone.
"I thought my boss was towing it home, and evidently he thought I got someone else to tow it home, but somebody just backed up to it, loaded it onto the vehicle and took off with it," Whitt said.
Whitt is taking care of Trinity while they're working through some family problems. Trinity's aunt, Ladonna Saylor said they're doing the best they can.
"It's been very difficult for her as a child. She should never have to go through that," Saylor said. "And it's just grandma and me taking care of her, doing what we've got to do.
Saylor and her mother are grateful for the charity that helped Trinity have a good Christmas. They hope whoever took their RV will have a change of heart.
"All I want is my granddaughter's stuff returned," Whitt said. "If you need the RV, keep it."
The family said they have filed a police report with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. If you have any information on this case, call the police.
