Man suspected of stealing U-Haul truck arrested after chase

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man suspected of stealing a U-Haul truck was captured after he was found hiding on the roof of a garage.

Harris County sheriff deputies say the man stole the U-Haul truck from a business on FM 1960 and Mills. He was quickly spotted by deputies who chased the truck past Willowbrook Mall.

Deputies managed to get the driver to run over spike strips, causing him to crash into a fire hydrant along FM 1960 and Northgate Forest.

The man then got out of the truck and ran into a wooded area. Deputies then located him thanks to an alert neighbor who heard the man trying to break into his home. The suspect was then found on the roof of the neighbor's garage and taken into custody.

Deputies have not released the man's identity.
