Pursuit ends in bayou
What started with a call about a burglary ended in a chase, with the suspects ending up in a bayou

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A police pursuit ended with a white pickup truck crashing into a southeast Houston bayou early this morning.

Authorities said the incident started when a neighbor reported a burglary at a warehouse in the 9200 block of Tavenor Lane.

"The resident in the area heard a loud noise at a business normally closed at night," said Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD. "The resident then saw the truck bash the gate open and leave. He started following the truck and notified the police."

Houston police officers chased the truck with two people inside for a short while on Edgebrook Drive. Authorities said the male driver lost control and crashed at a railroad crossing, ending up in a bayou at Edgebrook and Old Galveston Road.

HPD suspects the warehouse was burglarized.

The owners say they are missing a silver Ford F-250 truck and some welding machines, but they're still taking inventory.

Shane Adkins, of IPC Fabricators, said, "Well I'm coming to work and I noticed our company trucks missing. And I look over here and see you all set up. Obviously, they torched the gate open. Maybe they ripped it open with a forklift the way it's bent open. I know we have a couple of wielding machines missing and some other things. Six in the morning here we are."
