HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The family of a baby killed following a crash in north Houston is pleading for those responsible for the accident to come forward.

Patricia Williams, the baby's grandmother, said, "She had her whole life ahead of her.. they need to come forth."

Helen Hadnot, a family friend, added, "Please come forward. This is so important. You're a human being. Have compassion for a child, a baby. ... It's just not fair to the family. She was full of life."

The baby's mother was injured in the crash and remains hospitalized.

The accident in which the baby was ejected from the vehicle happened on the frontage roadway of the North Freeway near West Gulf Bank.

Three people were inside the vehicle that caused the wreck got out and ran away.

Police tell us the infant, identified by family members as River Ramsey, was inside of a truck waiting at a red light when another vehicle rammed them from behind. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over. Authorities say the vehicle that hit the truck was a green Chevy Tahoe.

The child was not properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division. They did not specify what that meant.

The baby was taken to the hospital where he later died.

If you have any information about the case, call police.
