All smash, no grab in failed ATM theft

TOWNSVILLE, Australia (KTRK) -- An Australian man found out first hand that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Queensland police released surveillance video of the suspect trying to steal an ATM from a store in Townsville.

His plan was to smash through the door and connect a chain from his truck to the ATM.

Almost immediately his plan fell apart as the chain came apart. After making a getaway without the ATM, he made a second attempt only to find that the chains were too far apart to reconnect.

The would-be thief ended up taking off without anything.
