2 Univ. of Louisville Football Players Shot at Heisman Celebration

Two University of Louisville football players were shot at a party celebrating star quarterback Lamar Jackson's Heisman Trophy win and were recovering in a Louisville hospital on Sunday night.



Junior linebacker James Hearns and sophomore linebacker Henry Famurewa were shot along with an unidentified Louisville student, sources told WHAS11, an ABC affiliate.



Police were called to an off-campus apartment complex at around 2 a.m. Sunday.



A woman and a man were taken to University Hospital by ambulance due to gunshot wounds while a third person showed up to Jewish Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, police told WHAS11.



All three are believed to be connected to the incident at the off-campus party where the Heisman celebration was taking place.



Police described their injuries as non-life threatening.



The university sent out two alerts to students. The first came at 4:07 a.m. regarding the shooting, saying Louisville Police officers were on the scene. A second notification was sent at 7:48 a.m. giving the "all clear."



The university has yet to make an official statement on the incident.



The Louisville Metro Police Department is seeking suspects in the shootings.
