Neighbors rescue woman from burning home
Neighbors ran to the rescue of a woman in her 60s, who was trapped inside her burning home in southeast Houston.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Firefighters are working to figure out if a woman was trying to stay warm when her house caught fire overnight in southeast Houston.

Eyewitness News was there as Houston firefighters loaded her into an ambulance outside of the house on Beekman at Cavanaugh around midnight.

Neighbors rushed to rescue the woman in her 60s, who they say they could hear screaming for help. One man, Frank Broaden, grabbed a crowbar to get the gate off the front door.

"I really tried my best to do it in an ample amount of time. That way I could get out safely, and that way she could get treatment," Broaden said.

Firefighters tell us the woman, who was the only one home, went to the hospital with breathing problems.

No one else was injured.

There's no word yet on what caused the fire.
