Robert Avery -- It's official. Pasadena Memorial's streak of eight consecutive state playoff berths in football has been broken.
For the first time since the 2005 season and only the third time in the 11-year history of the program, the Mavs won't be going to the postseason dance after the team absorbed a 30-3 District 22-6A loss to powerhouse Pearland at Veterans Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Mavs, playing before a small home crowd, was mathematically eliminated after falling to 1-5 in district play and 1-7 overall, while state-ranked Pearland upped its perfect ledger to 7-0 and 9-0 overall. All-time against the Oilers, Memorial slipped to 1-4.
