A man is accused of leaving something behind when he returned his rental car -- nearly 140 pounds of marijuana

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KTRK) -- A man is accused of leaving something behind when he returned his rental car to the Sunport--nearly 140 pounds of marijuana.

Now, Homeland Security and the Sunport police say that arrest may lead to them to bigger players in the drug trade.

Tanya Hernandez said, "I can't believe that would happen here at the airport where there's a lot of security...it's just ironic that people could do that."

If you've traveled lately, you may have rented a car at an airport.

Dozens do it every day at the Albuquerque Sunport, Matt Howerton reported. But yesterday, Sunport Police got an unusual call from a company here, after a man had returned his rental car.

But when employees started cleaning the car they found something inside the trunk they did not expect.

Court documents say they found several duffel bags filled with marijuana.

Homeland Security and Sunport Police were called to investigate.

But by that time, the man who dropped the car off -- David Ung had come back. He said he'd forgotten a bag.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

All in all, Sunport Police say the take was worth as much as $1million.

The bust has since led homeland security and Sunport Police down a sophisticated drug trail.

Both agencies declined to comment on camera, but did say that the marijuana was professionally packaged and was high grade -- leading them to believe that there are bigger fish tied to the drugs.

Sunport Police say they've identified several additional suspects in this case. They expect to make arrests soon.
