Houston man accused of killing girlfriend's lizard in fit of jealous rage

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man accused of killing his girlfriend's pet lizard has been arrested.

Deyonta Dennis is charged with injury to an animal. Police say Dennis got into a fight with his then-girlfriend, locked her out of her own apartment, and then fractured the spine of her pet bearded dragon.

The lizard eventually died from its injuries.

The woman believes Dennis was jealous after she spent time with a neighbor who was helping her care for the animal.
