The woman and man were found shot in a car after deputies determined the woman was attempting to end the relationship with the man before he shot her and turned the gun on himself.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was killed by her boyfriend after she was attempting to break up with him, before shooting himself outside a northwest Harris County Walmart, deputies said.

The boyfriend, identified as Paul Villagran-Gutierrez was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday. The woman has still not been identified, according to authorities.

Deputies were called to the parking lot on 249 near Antoine around 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

Homicide investigators arrived on the scene and found a 31-year-old woman and Villagran-Gutierrez shot inside a silver car. The woman had suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead, deputies said.

According to investigators, Villagran-Gutierrez was in the driver's seat with a gun in his hand and suffered a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The two had been in a dating relationship, according to deputies.

After reviewing surveillance video, examining the crime scene, and interviewing witnesses, deputies said they determined the woman was trying to end the relationship with Villagran-Gutierrez when he killed her and shot himself.
