AUSTIN, TX -- There's a winner of a $12 million grand prize from the Jan. 1 Lotto Texas drawing.
As it turns out, it's the state of Texas.
A 6 p.m. Monday deadline came and went without a winning ticket being presented for the $12 million drawing. That means the ticket-holder forfeits any claim to the prize and the unclaimed money reverts to the state. More than $837 million in unclaimed Texas lottery prizes have reverted since 1995.
The retailer that sold the ticket - South Shore Shell on Farm Road 518 in League City - received a bonus check for more than $121,000 in March.
