HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The FIFA World Cup has officially ended, and Houstonians swarmed fan events and local businesses as the soccer tournament took over the summer.
H-Town hosted seven matches, and the FIFA Fan Festival in East Downtown was open as a free hub for fans to watch games together.

Fan Festival Houston closed during Scotland v. Morocco match due to inclement weather, FIFA says
As weather conditions remained volatile on Friday, fans at FIFA's Fan Fest Houston were forced to leave during the Scotland v. Morocco match.
While a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northeastern Harris County, Montgomery, and Liberty Counties, the festival in East Downtown was still shut down as weather conditions worsened.
Officials urged fans to watch from other venues, including nearby small businesses, adding that gates will reopen as weather permits.
Friday's closure was the fifth time FIFA has closed the event due to weather.

The United States has punched its ticket to the knockout round of the 2026 World Cup after beating Australia 2-0 in front of a raucous crowd in Seattle on Friday.

Christian Pulisic to miss US World Cup match against Australia because of calf injury
U.S. star Christian Pulisic will miss Friday's World Cup match against Australia because of a calf injury.
American coach Maurice Pochettino made the announcement during an interview with Fox about 90 minutes before the kickoff at Lumen Field in Seattle.
The move is a setback for a U.S. team riding high after defeating Paraguay 4-1 in its first game one week ago.
Pulisic left the game at halftime. Pochettino said the 27-year-old attacker was kicked in the back of his left calf during a training session ahead of the game and felt tightness during the match.
Pulisic trained on his own in the lead-up to the game against Australia.
Pulisic has 33 goals in 87 international appearances.
