HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houstonians are learning how to identify the signs of human trafficking in their neighborhoods.
South Main Baptist Church hosted a human trafficking seminar in Midtown today. Members of law enforcement talked about suspicious activity like massage parlors open late at night. They say they need the community's help to crack down on the crime.
"It's really great to hear that someone in Houston recognizes that this is an issue and we do need assistance. And the fact that he's going after them civilly with the attorney general to actually get them closed down is a big impact," said Tiffany Turner.
Houston is considered a hub for human trafficking because of the city's proximity to the border and accessibility through interstate highways and airports.
