Houston Rockets to host auditions for next Clutch

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Do you have what it takes to don Clutch's un-bear-lievably cute costume?



The search is on for the Houston Rockets's next mascot, and it could be you. The team is auditioning for a new mascot actor now that the man who donned the Clutch costume has retired after 21 years.

Auditions begin at 8am Saturday at the Toyota Center.



Are you eligible to play Clutch?



The team says you qualify if you are:



  • At least 18 years old
  • Preferably a former mascot or have stage experience
  • Athletic with gymnastic or tumbling skills
  • Charismatic, creative and love entertaining people
  • Great with improvisation skills
  • "Witty, mischievous, spontaneous and youthful" while in character


If you qualify, you must register to audition on the Houston Rockets website.

Robert Boudwin, the man who formerly played Clutch, recently spoke to abc13's Christine Dobbyn about what it takes to wear the Clutch suit.



The Toyota Center is located at 1510 Polk Street, in Downtown Houston.
