HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The family of a woman seriously injured while riding a golf cart has reached a settlement with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Attorneys for Bonnie Herndon announced the confidential settlement Monday afternoon.

Herndon was a volunteer and was riding on a golf cart on opening night of the 2013 rodeo when the driver made a sharp turn, throwing her out.

Attorneys say Herndon hit her head and she's been in the hospital and in a coma since the accident. Attorneys say the rodeo has made changes to the golf carts they use because of the accident.

Attorneys would not say exactly how much the settlement was worth, but say it will provide for Herndon for the rest of her life.

The rodeo issued a statement after the settlement was announced, saying "Bonnie is a beloved member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo family and she and her family remain in our thoughts and prayers."
